The bright blue sky, the warmth of the sun and the smells of Spring are here; bringing along with it the best few months of the year and by far the best tasting produce the Earth has to offer.
Get up, get out and enjoy what you have. Eat fresh and healthy, you will be amazed what a few months of that can do to your figure! Stop by your local Farmers Markets and sort through... you can find everything from gourmet sauces and pastries to plants and of course FRUITS and VEGGIES that most likely come from a small farm near your area.
Not only does this help you to get out and smell the fresh air but by spending money in your community you are stimulating your local economy! And believe me, that is a hell of alot more than what the Baboons in Washington are doing!
So enjoy Spring and tell me the dishes that you indulge in!

Be the change you wish to see on your plate
Creating Gourmet food shouldn't be so intimidating; because while some make it seem as if you need a culinary degree to duplicate their dishes, there are others, like me, who say " Go ahead. Do what you do. If it tastes good then enjoy it and if it needs a face lift throw some parsley on it." A good sauce and some fresh herbs go along way.
Nobody has a "Food Rule Book," even though many believe there to be one, there isn't. I can assure you if there was I would have found it and probably would have been criticized for breaking nearly every rule. So don't be afraid of what others might think about your "crazy mixtures." Be daring, be different. Do it, taste it, love it or hate it!
I'm sure demi glace was not meant to be made with grape jelly, but, it makes the best demi glace I've ever tasted! So cook... I look forward to hearing about it.

Strawberry Season...
Bright red, juicy strawberries are at seasons peak. Like the shortcake or like the berries? Either way this is a recipe you will want to try.
1 shortcake or 1 slice of pound cake
6 strawberries sliced thin
2 TBSP Ashlynn's Gourmet Strawberry Zinfandel Balsamic Glaze
1 tsp sugar
fresh whipped cream or cream from the can.... to top of course
Mix the strawberries and let sit at room temp for 15 minutes so that all the flavors meld together. Mound on top of the cake and top with whipped cream. drizzle strawberry balsamic glaze over the top for "flare and flavor"
Need to impress? Make your own whipped cream. Add 1 TBSP strawberry balsamic glaze after the cream is whipped... make sure to "fold" it in DON'T STIR or you will be back to square one... left with nothing but strawberry flavored cream!
